Hoʻomana Ola
Suicide prevention is vital in saving lives, supporting mental health, reducing stigma, fostering community unity, preserving cultural values, and building resilience. It’s essential for the well-being of individuals and the Moloka’i community as a whole to mālama (take care of), hoʻomana (empower) us and our ‘ohana, to work towards reducing the suicide rate on Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi. and to strengthen our physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental wellbeing to achieve Mauli Ola.
Mission Statement
Ho’omana Ola is an integrative program that helps to support those who are having thoughts of suicide or who have been impacted by suicide (attempting or losing a loved one to suicide) in three major areas:
1. Primary Prevention: provide and facilitate access to education and resources.
2. Secondary Prevention: provide and facilitate access to clinical services through Nā Puʻuwaiʻs Behavioral Health program and our integrative, comprehensive health services and programs based on Native Hawaiian cultural practices and tradition.
3. Tertiary Prevention: provide support groups for individuals and families impacted by suicide.
Adult Bereavement
Support Group
Join us every 2nd Tuesday of the month for our Bereavement Support Group.
We offer a safe space of support for those who have lost a loved one to suicide or are experiencing suicidal thoughts.
Limited to Adult Survivors
