Health Educator/ Health Educator Assistant

Medical Biller

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree in business, health care administration or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medical biller or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational abilities.

Internal or Family Medicine Physician (MD or DO)

Primary Job Duties:
• Perform primary care, medical evaluation, and management
• Refer patients to Nā Puʻuwaiʻs integrative services and programs as clinically appropriate
• Participate in interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary team care
• Create individualized treatment plans to improve patient adherence and health outcomes
• Improve equitable access to high quality, integrative clinical care
• Documentation of HRSA health metrics as part of federally mandated requirements

The position will also include:
• Teaching and supervising students/trainees within our Integrative Health Center
• A focus on quality-based care
• A supportive, collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment with dedicated clinical operations and administrative staff
• Opportunities to assist in creating innovative, educational community-based health workshops, programs, and initiatives

The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:
• Active and unrestricted Hawaii medical license
• Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• 3+ years of clinical experience
• Direct clinical experience, training, or strong interest in Integrative/Functional Medicine
• Skilled diagnostician with the competency to coordinate care and refer to specialists when appropriate
• A strong sense of initiative and personal leadership
• Experience and comfortable with non-physician/mid-level provider incident to insurance billing
• Interest in a long-term rural health position practicing in multiple service sites
• A brief understanding of the history of Hawai’i including the, culture, language, and the impacts of post-contact colonialism on Native Hawaiian health or a willingness to learn

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate:
• Ability to work with multi-cultural teams serving multi-cultural patient populations
• Strong level of comfort with electronic health record software and the capacity to learn new technology quickly
• Competency in lifestyle medicine to include nutrition, stress management, sleep support, and physical activity
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with patients
• Ability to work with a team of interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary providers
• Passion for addressing the social determinants of health while supporting patients with complex health barriers that requires careful thought, collaboration, and inter/transdisciplinary approaches to care
• Leadership, adaptability, and innovation
