About Shari Tasaka

Biography

Shari joined the Na Pu‘uwai Ohana in June of 2019. Ms. Tasaka has a Master’s degree in English from the University of Hawai’i and is a doctoral student in healthcare administration at A.T. Still University. With over 30 years of healthcare experience in leadership, healthcare administration, and healthcare operations, Shari was the Chief of Administration, Operations, and Finance for the Department of ObGyn at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and Practice Development Officer under the Dean’s Office at the University of Hawai’i and JABSOM’s faculty practice for 15 years. She began her career in healthcare operations at the Queen’s Medical Center in 1980. Throughout her career, she has managed a $20 million dollar budget and built and managed healthcare administrative infrastructures including physician practice revenue cycles, budget and finance offices, human resources, practitioner onboarding and contracting, HIT systems, and healthcare compliance all in her home state of Hawaii. 

Shari has been married for over 34 years to Darren Tasaka, Interventional Radiology Manager at the Queen’s Medical Center-Main campus and has two beautiful daughters, Maris, Publishing and Marketing Assistant at MacMillan Books in NYC and Misha, biology major and NCAA scholar-student athlete at the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA.
